The Perfect 3-Night Sailing Itinerary from Split, Croatia

November 12, 2024

Many visitors who are eager to explore Croatia’s coast find themselves drawn to the famous sights and remote beauty of far-off islands like Vis and Hvar. Stiniva Cove and Red Rocks are iconic for good reason, but there are equally stunning spots just a few kilometres from Split that deserve a visit—and without the need for lengthy journeys at sea to reach them.

Seasoned sailors will know that it’s far better to spend your time exploring and experiencing the magic of each location than spending huge chunks of your trip at the open sea in between stops. By sticking close-by and exploring islands like Brač and Šolta, you’ll experience the best of the coast without the long distances and the usual tourist crowds. There are dozens of stunning locations nearby that are so often overlooked.

We’ve put together our favourite 3-night sailing itinerary, stopping at all the spots that get skipped in favour of the famous hotspots. Trust us—the towering cliffs on the south side of Island Šolta beat wading among a hundred other boats along the buoy line at the famous Stiniva Cove any day. Read on to discover more of the best hidden gems and get our complete itinerary, including restaurant recommendations, activities, and tips for your adventure.

Day 1: Leaving from Split

Morning Coffee: Leaving Split in the morning, set sail and head straight for a coffee stop in the charming village of Sutivan on the island of Brač. Sutivan has a quaint promenade with several options for coffee and breakfast. Take a moment to soak up the relaxed pace of island life and have a wander before continuing to your first swim stop of the day.

Uvala Tiha: Just a short sail from the village of Sutivan, you will find a remote bay named Uvala Tiha. Stop here to soak up the natural beauty and crystal clear waters of Island Brač. The rocky shore and surrounding forest will make you feel as if you’re completely secluded on a remote island, even though you will have only travelled just a few kilometres so far.

Bobovišća Bay:  Continue to the charming fishing village of Bobovišća, tucked along Brač’s western coast. Its nearby bay, lined with stone houses along the waterfront, exudes old-world charm and a relaxed island rhythm. Anchor here for swimming and snorkelling.

Lučice Bay and Konoba Familja: As evening approaches, set sail for Lučice Bay, home to one of our favourite spots on Brač—Konoba Familja. Once anchored, a dinghy will bring you to shore, where the restaurant is nestled in the forest, offering some of the most stunning views of the bay. This is your dinner destination for the night. We highly recommend starting with their appetiser menu, followed by the fresh tuna steak. The expertly curated wine list pairs beautifully with the surroundings. After dinner, enjoy a peaceful overnight stay anchored in the calm, secluded waters of Lučice Bay.

Day 2: South Side of Brač

Romantic Beach: Start your day at one of Brač’s most beloved hidden gems. Romantic Beach is a small, secluded beach perfect for a refreshing swim along its sandy shore and an ideal setting to enjoy your morning coffee on the boat. Soak up the views of rugged Brač and neighbouring Hvar Island.

Veli Zagradac: Your next stop is at the beach that Anchor Croatia’s founder Marko claims is the most beautiful beach in all of Dalmatia. We recommend bringing refreshments and spending a few hours soaking up the afternoon sun on Veli Zagradac.

Military Tunnel: For a bit of history and adventure, sail into the Military Tunnel on Brač’s southern coast. This hidden remnant from Yugoslav times offers a unique glimpse into the island’s past and a memorable stop to explore before evening descends.

Smrka Bay: Settle in for a BBQ dinner on board in the breathtaking Smrka Bay. Grill fresh seafood, pour a glass of wine, and savour the spectacular sunset views along Brač’s south coast. With the peaceful bay as your backdrop, this is the perfect spot to anchor overnight.

Day 3: Island Šolta

Stracinska Bay: On your third day, sail to the serene Stracinska Bay on Šolta. The calm morning waters and shallow pebble beach make it an ideal spot to start your morning off strong with snorkelling or paddleboarding.

Tantinja Bay: Continue your journey along the rugged southern coast to the beautiful Tantinja Bay. Stop for a drink and stunning views at the cafe Lonely Paradise. From there, follow the dramatic cliffs of Šolta’s southern edge, an adventure playground perfect for cliff jumping and exploring hidden caves tucked along the shore.

Šešula Bay: Your journey concludes in the charming and secluded Šešula Bay, home to another one of our favourite restaurants in Dalmatia– Konoba Šešula. Here you can indulge in fresh seafood and traditional Croatian dishes, all prepared with local ingredients that capture the essence of Dalmatian flavour. Spend your final night on board anchored in Šešula Bay.

Day 4: Sail Back to Split

Enjoy a relaxed morning coffee as you sail back to Split, taking in the calm morning sea through the channel. Reflect on the hidden beauty of Brač and Šolta uncovered over the past few days—untouched gems just a short sail from the mainland, without the crowds or long journeys to remote locations.
