6 Croatian Islands in 7 Days: The Island-Hopping Route That Locals Love
If you’re planning a trip to Croatia and wondering which islands are really worth your time, you’re not alone. The Croatian coast is filled with beautiful places — but it’s easy to get caught in the tourist track and miss the soul of the region.
That’s why we’ve curated a route that locals love. This 7-day itinerary covers six of Dalmatia’s most unique islands, weaving in the food, wine, and cultural experiences that make each one unforgettable. And yes — it just so happens to be the exact route of our Taste of Croatia cruise (sailing again 24–31 August 2025).
Here’s a look at each stop, and why it deserves a place on your island-hopping list:

1. Šolta
The quiet one

Just 9 nautical miles from Split, Šolta feels like a world apart. Often passed over for flashier neighbours, this island has quietly preserved its soul — think dry-stone walls, family-run olive farms, and coves where the pine trees grow right up to the sea.
After a welcome dinner served in a secluded bay off Brač, we’ll spend the night on anchor near Šolta — floating in silence under the stars.
By morning, you’ll understand why Šolta is known as one of Dalmatia’s last truly wild islands. Whether it’s the scent of wild herbs on the breeze or the taste of local honey made from island rosemary, there’s something grounding about this place.
2. VIS
Croatia’s best kept secret

For decades, Vis was off-limits to foreign visitors due to its strategic military importance. That isolation preserved its raw beauty and unhurried way of life. Today, it’s one of the most authentic places you can experience on the Adriatic.
After a guided wine tasting and education session onboard, we’ll dock in Vis Town, where stone streets lead to quiet courtyards, old fishermen’s homes, and tucked-away konobas.
This is a place of ancient vineyards, military tunnels, and secret beaches. The sea here is strikingly clear, and the pace of life is as slow as it’s always been — just how we like it.
3. Hvar
More than just nightlife.

Known as the sunniest island in Croatia, Hvar combines natural beauty with centuries of history. From Illyrian stone walls and Venetian palaces to fields of wild lavender that bloom in summer.
We’ll dock near the Old Town in time for golden hour, giving you the chance to wander narrow alleyways, sip coffee on the main square, or climb up to the fortress for sweeping views of the Pakleni Islands.
But Hvar isn’t just about looks — it’s home to some of Croatia’s oldest winemaking traditions, a strong culture of herbal medicine, and a coast lined with hidden coves. Come for its’ charm but stay for its’ stories and depth.
4. Korčula
Full of flavour.

Often called “Little Dubrovnik” for its medieval walls and terracotta rooftops, Korčula is a place where history and craftsmanship are still part of everyday life. Beyond the postcard-perfect town lies a quieter, agricultural heart — and that’s where we’re headed.
This day is all about flavour and tradition. With your host and sommelier guiding the experience, you’ll visit a boutique winery recognised by Decanter and taste four award-winning wines. Then it’s off to a small family farm where olive oil, honey, and gin are made from scratch, often by the same hands that planted the trees.
You’ll leave Korčula with more than just a few great photos — you’ll carry the stories, tastes, and faces of the people who make this island unforgettable.
5. Makarska
Where the mountains meet the sea.

Tucked between the dramatic rise of the Biokovo mountain range and the deep blue Adriatic, Makarska offers a striking contrast to the islands. Its vibrant, grounded, and full of local life.
You’ll have time to stroll the seaside promenade, browse markets bursting with seasonal fruit, or hike the path to the St. Peter Peninsula for sweeping views over the harbour. The town is known for its energy, but there’s plenty of space to slow down — whether that means gelato in the shade or a quiet swim off the rocky shore.
It’s the perfect mainland interlude before returning to island rhythm.
6. Brač
Home to Croatia’s most famous beach.

Best known for Zlatni Rat, the golden horn of shifting pebbles that stretches into turquoise sea, Brač is an island shaped by stone, sea, and tradition. But beyond the beach lies a deeper story. Explore mountain villages, world-famous limestone, and coastal towns with quiet charm.
We’ll spend our final full day in Bol, a laid-back harbour town with excellent seafood, artisan shops, and easy paths that lead to the sea. Swim, wander, or relax on deck with a glass of local wine in hand. This day is yours to enjoy at your own pace.
It’s the kind of place that reminds you to slow down, take it in, and savour the feeling of island life before it’s all over.
7. Čiovo
The most underrated island.

Just across the bridge from Trogir, Čiovo is often passed over, but this forested island holds quiet beaches, centuries-old chapels, and a wild coastline. Once a retreat for hermits and monks, the island remains a peaceful place to pause and reconnect with nature.
We’ll drop anchor near Fumija, a calm cove on the island’s southern shores and one of our absolute favourite places in Dalmatia to catch the sunset. Whether you float, swim, or snorkel, this final stop offers more than just a refreshing dip. It’s a moment to reflect.
After a week of island stories, shared meals, and sunset sails, this last swim feels like a deep exhale. One final quiet memory before we return to land.
8. trogir
A UNESCO world heritage site

Encircled by medieval walls and laced with marble alleyways, Trogir is a living museum, but without the crowds and lines. Founded by the Greeks, shaped by the Romans, and polished by Venetian artisans, its historical core is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, just ten minutes from Split Airport.
We return here for your final night. After one last swim stop near Čiovo, the boat docks beneath the town’s bell towers. The evening ends with live music, great wine, and a farewell celebration.
